About this experience

Take a walk-through of indigenous culture and how their ancestral stories are imprinted within Green Island's soil. Our Wunyami Cultural Tours incorporate saltwater stories and legends within Green Island and, more broadly, The Great Barrier Reef. We want to help raise awareness for the indigenous culture within Green Island and help you get a broader understanding of their history and culture. 

Our Wunyami Cultural Tours are solely linked to the cultural and historical surroundings intrinsic to Green Island. Our unique tours are conducted by our indigenous tour guides, who will provide you with the most authentic and inspiring tour. Our tours have become a fundamental part of Green Island's cultural learning. Our program works closely with the elders and young indigenous leaders so they deliver with the authority of the Saltwater people. These tours are significant to the indigenous community connected to Green Island. They are a career pathway that instils respect and honour while sharing and teaching their culture and historical significance to a broader audience. 

The Green Island Eco Adventure provides ferry travel to and from the island and your choice of snorkel hire or a glass bottom boat tour. With up to 7 hours to explore the island’s rainforest and surrounding reef, it’s a great way to experience one of the unique locations of the Great Barrier Reef.

You can choose your preferred departure times from Cairns and Green Island! Scheduled departure and arrival times may differ. Refer to the booking form for availability. Travel time to the island is approximately 45 minutes.

What to bring

• Swimming costume
• Lycra suit (stinger suit) if you have one (they are available for hire)
• Beach towel
• Hat, sunscreen and comfortable shoes
• Spending money on drinks, souvenirs and optional activities

Terms & Conditions

• 4 -14 years are classed as children, and under four free, i.e. three or below.
• Family fare – maximum of 2 adults and two children of the same family. Normal fare applies for additional children. Not applicable with any other discount.
• All schedules, activities and prices may be varied without notice. Listed fares in Australian dollars include Goods and Services Tax.
• A credit card surcharge may apply.

Locals

• Locals are classed as residents living between Cooktown and Innisfail
• Locals ID (driver's license with a local address or any document with a local address) much be presented at check-in.
